- And I will bring back Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the other captives that were taken to Babylon. I will surely break the yoke that the king of Babylon has put on your necks. I, the LORD, have spoken!"
- Jeremiah responded to Hananiah as they stood in front of all the priests and people at the Temple.
Jeremiah 5:31
- the prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. And worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?
2 Peter 2:1
- But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Theirs will be a swift and terrible end.
- Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of them, Christ and his true way will be slandered.
- In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction is on the way.
Jeremiah 14:13
- Then I said, "O Sovereign LORD, their prophets are telling them, `All is well--no war or famine will come. The LORD will surely send you peace.'"
- Then the LORD said, "These prophets are telling lies in my name. I did not send them or tell them to speak. I did not give them any messages. They prophesy of visions and revelations they have never seen or heard. They speak foolishness made up in their own lying hearts.
